Techno-Kids: The Imagination Generation

What does the techno-savvy student of 2010 need to know?
This creative week will give your child a chance to stretch his or her imagination, gain new tech & media skills, dig down into the robotic world and have a great performing arts experience.

Techno-Kids: Students will survey their own tech skills to discover their keyboarding, document creation, ‘Net surfing and deep surfing, media—video & digital photo, and production of information skills—even what they know about robotics and the careers associated with robotics. Practice in typing, constructing documents, using lots of shortcuts, PowerPoint with animation and sound, video & still camera techniques, and learning about robotics will complete the morning. Instructor: Joanne Doell
Have Fun with Improv Comedy:
Bring Out the Rascal In You! Use your talents to tweak that quirky sense of humor. Work in pairs or in a group to create comedy stories and situations. Imagination Rules! Instructor: Dan Weisman
Art Attack - The Modern Masters:
Stretch your artistic knowledge and skills by learning about the styles of Miro, Klee, Kandinsky, Mondrian, and Braque. Then create your masterpiece in the style of one or more of these great masters. Composition, proportion, whimsy and color will be emphasized.
TechnoLab - Making it Happen
Take your new skills and information from your morning class and practice, practice, play and imagine! This is where you imagine and create your product: a slide show, a short video, a series of talk story photos, a poster or document, or find out more about robotics in the world. Lots of images, video, and “digital play” at its best. You will create a product to take back to school or suitable to be completed at a later time. Instructor: Joanne Doell
Needed to bring: your own digital camera or video camera
African Drumming & Dance
Learn a variety of African 3-step rhythms; welcoming & leaving dances. Instructors Patricia Roberts & Glenn Lacy
College Information, Careers & Robots: Learn about College & Careers, Robot Clubs & Competitions on Maui: What are your college opportunities & new 21st century careers? Which schools have Robotics clubs? Instructor: Joanne Doell, Coordinator, College for Kids.
